Repainting your interior walls can be taxing. This can be made even worse if, when you finish, you realize the paint job that you just did isn't dark enough to cover the color that the wall was before. With a little prep work, this problem can be eliminated. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
-White primer paint
-Two paint rollers
-Paint roller
Instructions
1. Prep your painting equipment. Make sure that you have tarps covering all of the flooring and furniture in the room you are painting. Start by pouring a small amount of white primer paint into the pan. Make sure the padded roller is secured onto the roller holder. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting covered in paint.
2
Paint a first coat of primer. Begin by dipping and rolling the roller pad through the primer, covering the entire roller. Roll once or twice on the ramp part of the paint pan to get rid of the excess. Then begin painting the wall. Start in a zig-zag formation across the top and work down, so any paint that drips is accounted for as you descend. Work in quadrants, so you don't overextend yourself, as well. Once you finish the entire wall, let the paint dry overnight. Clean your roller pads immediately and let them dry in a cool, dry place.
3
Paint a second coat of primer. Basically, repeat exactly what you did before with the primer. This is to ensure that when you paint the next, lighter colored coat, none of the darker paint will show through. Again, let the paint dry overnight.
4
Paint the coat of light-colored paint. Use the same technique used before in painting the primer, except with the light-colored paint instead. This should only take one coat, since you have now used two coats of primer, and the paint. Let this dry for 24 hours before touching it.
